Citizens of Spring Lake in Scappoose, Oregon are making homemade masks during COVID-19, a time when they are needed most.
Sue LaCamp, Ginny Horton, and Lois Corliss created and donated about 60 masks to Avamere at St. Helens, an independent living, assisted living, and memory care community in St. Helens, Oregon.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a worldwide shortage of masks, and many people are volunteering their time to make handmade masks for healthcare workers.
“These are difficult times, changing times,” shared Jenny Hicks, Director of Sales and Outreach at Avamere at St. Helens. “Great communities like Spring Lake in Columbia County are up for the challenge.”
Several other Avamere communities are receiving masks from generous volunteers via social distancing techniques, like drop-off boxes. In a time of crisis, Avamere staff and leaders greatly appreciate the offers of love and encouragement.
